Strand House Hotel LLP

Lying at the foot of the cliffs beneath the 13th Century Strand Gate is The Strand House. Built on the Old Quay and now a Grade II Listed building, it was previously Winchelsea's Old Work House and Smugglers Haunt.

A working National Trust farm adjoins the property offering wonderful views from most rooms and some fine walks.

The Strand House takes you back in time with its oak beams and inglenook fireplaces. The ten guestrooms, full of character and atmosphere, positively encourage you to relax whilst enjoying the comforts of en-suite facilities, beverage tray and colour TV.

A comfortable lounge, with log fires in season, adjoining the residents' bar and reception, has doors leading out to a spacious and interesting garden.

These little comforts and the practical aspects, such as the ample car parking, complement the friendly and courteous service to make your visit a memorable experience.

It really is the ideal place to stay while you explore the beautiful surrounding countryside and conservation areas.

All rooms have tea and coffee making facilities, a clock/radio and a remote control television. For those special occasions, Champagne and flowers can be arranged.

At The Strand House, no two rooms are the same. Although many of our returning guests have a personal favourite, it's quite possible to have a different room with a different character each time you visit us.

Breakfast
Breakfast is served in the breakfast room from 8.00 hrs until 9.15 hrs. These are our normal times but, like most things at The Strand House, they are not set in stone.

Facilities
The Strand House has all the comforts of home to help you relax and enjoy your time away.

Like all the rooms, the lounge is full of charm and character, from the inglenook fireplace (roaring fires during the winter months) to the heavily exposed beams.

There is a small (but perfectly formed) library containing information on the history of the local area, walks and wildlife.

There is also a good selection of current magazines. You can relax into a comfy sofa with a drink from the residents' bar, good company and some good reading material should the mood take you.

In the summer months the lounge has doors that open onto the extensive gardens of The Strand House. There is a seating area in which you can immerse yourself in the sounds and smells of the garden whilst doing whatever takes your fancy.

You will no doubt be delighted to learn that The Strand House has ample parking in the form of a private car park in front of the main building.
