Prestbury House
The phrase English Country House with its attendant imagery of warmth, comfort and history could easily have been coined just for Prestbury House, so accurately does it conjure up the higgledy - piggledy charm of characterful rooms and friendly welcome awaiting guests.
The Oak panelled rooms, the roaring log fires in winter, the croquet lawn in summer, the panoramic views out to the Cotswold Hills , the traditional furnishings all conspire to make any length of stay a memorable event.
And beyond 5 acres of secluded grounds lies a treasure trove of equally engaging delights.
Prestbury House provides 15 en-suite bedrooms. Premiere bedrooms (4 posters, garden views and king size beds) are in the main house and Standard double and twin bedrooms in the Coach House. Ground floor bedrooms and our category 1 disabled facilities are in the Coach House.
Two Standard doubles are on the third floor of the main house (no lift - Grade 2 listed). Full details, photo gallery and descriptions together with a direct booking facility can be found on our website.
We serve superb traditional Breakfasts and have an excellent restaurant opposite the house for lunches and evening meals.
Within 1.5 miles of Prestbury House is Regency Cheltenham Spa town Centre and some 35 restaurants of all different types and cuisines. Within 0.5 miles is the world famous Cheltenham Race Course. We have a large secure car park and full helicopter landing facilities for up to 3 aircraft.
Prestbury village itself is ancient with lots of historical mentions particularly the English Civil War. Prestbury House itself was at one time Cromwells Staff Head Quarters for the area.
Further afield there is Cleeve Hill and Common (0.5 miles), a 1000ft. high escapement with over 1000 acres of common land (Cotswold Way).Beautiful Medieval Winchcombe village (4 miles) with Sudely Castle and Gardens and Prescot Hill Climb (7 miles).
Reviews & Customer Feedback
A really beautiful hotel with lots of character. Best Breakfast in a very long time. The gardens and views are outstanding. Very impressed with Cheltenham. If you want to eat at The Royal Oak opposite do book in advance. Because it is so good it gets full very quickly especially at week ends. A great stay. ...
