Ranelagh Bed And Breakfast
Formerly the capital of England, the beautiful and historic city of Winchester has so much to offer the visitor. It is also an excellent centre for touring - there is wonderful countryside and many attractive towns and villages in Hampshire, including the Isle of Wight. As well as ones a bit further afield in Dorset, Wiltshire and West Sussex. London is only one hour away by train.
Ranelagh Bed and Breakfast is run by Chris and Margo Brown in their charming Victorian white stucco and brick house in the heart of the St. Cross area. It is ideally located, close to the city centre, with plenty of good restaurants, pubs and shops, as well as many historic sites.
The Tourist Centre provides very useful information, and there are various interesting guided tours. The Cathedral, University and College are, incidentally, all within a 10 minute walk away from us.
The double room is well furnished and quiet, overlooking a mature garden. It has a hand basin in the room with its own private bathroom one floor down. The single is a charming attic room with an en-suite bathroom (shower).
Breakfast is served on the lower ground floor at a time to suit guests. It can be either a full 'English', or 'continental'. We are pleased if guests visit our garden - some like to sneak out there for a smoke (not permitted indoors!).
Visitors' cars can be parked either outside, or very close by. We provide Parking Permits if these are needed.
Winchester is easily reached by car, train or by air (Southampton). We are a 15 minute walk, or five minute taxi drive, from the station, and easy to find if visitors arrive by car - usually via the M3, M27 or A34
Finally, Margo and Chris will welcome you warmly and give you any help (places to visit, restaurants, directions, taxis etc.) they can.
