Coxell House B&B
Coxell House is a charming, Grade II listed 17th century house overlooking the village green at Lydd, near the airport.
Recently renovated to a high standard to provide first class accommodation, yet retaining original features such as inglenook fireplace, oak beams and wide Georgian staircase.
Visit the historic town of Rye, 7 miles away, take a trip on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway, or enjoy the lovely beach at Camber Sands. Take time to explore the interesting, ancient town of Lydd by joining the town trail; pick up a brochure at Coxell House and follow the Trail.
See one of the smallest surviving timber-framed court halls in Kent, now Woolley's hardware shop. Visit the late 12th century church of All Saints, the largest church on Romney Marsh.
The churchyard is the final resting place of Lieutenant Thomas Edgar who sailed in the company of Captain Cook; his tombstone stands in the north chapel of the Church. Smuggling was rife in the 19th century and many notorious traffickers are buried at Lydd!
Two miles away is the Dungeness R.S.P.B. site, Britain's first dedicated reserve. From the hides can be observed a wide range of resident and migrating birds.
For the more adventurous, try go-karting at the Lydd International Raceway or maybe sand yachting at Greatstone. Windsurfing lessons are available nearby on a flooded gravel pit. Within easy reach of Ashford for the Eurostar connections, 40 minutes from Folkestone for Eurotunnel and under one hour from the ferries at Dover.
