Tower Cottage

Tower Cottage is a charming, 18th century flint house situated opposite the imposing parish church in the award winning village of Winterton-on-Sea, 8 miles from Great Yarmouth.

The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed and guests are made to feel at home.

A special feature of the cottage is the attractive conservatory with three impressive grapevines producing copious amounts of fruit every year.

Breakfast is served on separate tables, amongst the vines in summer and for winter use there is a snug dining room. Full English breakfast, with various options, includes a buffet starter of fruit compote, yoghurt, cereals, juices etc. and home made preserves. Vegetarians catered for.

The cottage retains many of its original features. The old dairy has pamment floors, typical of a Norfolk dwelling of this era and there are exposed timbers and flints.

The cottage garden is well established with numerous shrubs, trees, a patio area and a herbaceous border. Guests are welcome to make use of the garden furniture.

There is private parking in the drive.

There are three pretty bedrooms, each with colour TV, tea/coffee facilities and hairdryer.

Two bedrooms are ground floor, beamed, double en-suites, each with its own entrance, in a small converted barn. The larger room has a separate sitting area. In the main house is a twin bedded room with a private shower room and toilet.

Winterton Village

Winterton-on-Sea is an ancient fishing village 8 miles North of Great Yarmouth. It is completely uncommercialised and has a wide sweeping, sandy beach where seals make regular appearances.

Adjacent to the beach is an extensive nature reserve and dunes - ideal for bird watchers and walkers.

The imposing, flint, parish church, dating from the 15th century has the third highest tower in Norfolk, and many fine features including a memorial fisherman's corner.

The Norfolk Broads waterways and national park, offering fishing, boating, sailing and nature reserves are a few minutes drive, the resort of Great Yarmouth is 8 miles South and the fine medieval city of Norwich is 19 miles West.

Many historic houses, splendid gardens, windmills and thatched churches are a short drive. A beautiful sandy beach and pub serving good food, a short stroll away, or a variety of pubs and restaurants a few minutes drive.

Winterton-on-Sea was the 2003 winner of the Anglia in Bloom, Village of the Year and Village Green awards, and has been chosen to represent the Anglia Area in the Britain in Bloom competition in 2005.
