Set in the heart of Herriot Country in beautiful North Yorkshire, Burtree Country House nestles in a lovely rural setting below the Hambleton Hills.

This Mid 18th Century Georgian House is surrounded by spacious garden's with views of the Hambleton Hills and the famous White Horse of Kilburn.

If you would like to eat in our dining room or conservatory, we have an in house restaurant providing locally produced home cooked food, and bar, and also an extensive wine list.

For a hint of romance our luxurious White Horse Suite offers a four poster bed with a private heated balcony with table and chairs and spectacular views of the Hambleton Hills and the White Horse. We can also organise flowers, chocolates, champagne etc to be in any of our rooms on arrival.

All our rooms are individually designed with antique furniture and ensuite facilities. In each room there is tea & coffee making facilities, TV, Moulton Brown toiletries, and a basket of little luxurys to enhance your stay.

We are ideally situated for visits to some great attractions, such as York Minster & the Herriot Centre. Lightwater Valley, one for the kids, and adults is just 30 minutes away. Abbeys such as Byland and Fountains Abbey are just a short distance away.

Thirsk, famous for its Herriot connections is just 5 miles away, and the Herriot Centre is a must visit for adults and children. If you like exercise, then climb the 350 steps by the side of the White Horse of Kilburn. The views at the top are one not to miss.

If you are a race goer, Thirsk, Ripon & York Races are a short distance away. You can arrive at Burtree earlier than the normal check in time, by arrangement, get ready for your race meet, and we will taxi you to the racecourse, and collect you when you want to return. (local taxi rates charged). You can then enjoy yourself without the worry of driving.

During Winter our open log fire is the perfect place to relax in front of with a glass of wine, or during Summer enjoy or conservatory, and gardens.

We also cater for Birthday Parties and Special Occasions. Your party can eat in our dining room or conservatory, and relax in our lounge. We are great for a 'get together' place for families who live far apart and want home from home hospitality.
