Le Grand Coudray
Our charming bed and breakfast is run in the traditional French manner offering breakfast of local produce and home made jams. Evening meals are available (at a supplement) and are again produced using local or home grown produce.
The local towns offer restaurants, golf, swimming, shops and many historic features.
La charite is famous for its participation in the Second World War and Bourges offers one of the largest cathedrals in France. And also some of the best shopping!!
The Loire valley in this area offers sancerre wines, pouilly and a little less well known menetou. All equally palatable to the wine lover.
The village of apremont is listed in the 100 best villages book and can be found 15 mins drive away, it is set on the river allier and is worth passing a day or 2 there, spot the sky dish !!
The French words for bed and breakfast are chambre d'hotes which literally translated means room of hosts. It was first allowed in France to help the French farmers supplement their income when farming income started to become difficult. The laws mean that breakfast must be included in the room rate and meals should be taken with the hosts. This has become particularly popular in the last decade or so where travellers can take full advantage of the hosts knowledge of the local area to pass their holiday in the most pleasant way.
We always try to ensure that our guests are kept happy and enjoy their stay in this area with us.
