Enjoy the hospitality of an Italian / English family

Negrar is a traditional old town in a beautiful valley in the Valpolicella area with a lively market on Mondays. The town centre is five minutes' walk from the house, and is famous for its pizzerias and restaurants.

Negrar is well known for the production of Valpolicella wine, including top of the market 'Amarone' and 'Recioto'. It is only 10 km from Verona, with its opera season in the Arena (June to August) and its jazz festival in the Roman Theatre in June.

It is also convenient for Verona's Trade Fairs, including the world-famous Vinitaly and the International Exhibition of Marble, Stone and Technology; it is only half an hour from Lake Garda and is convenient for travelling to Venice by train.

Mario and Anne will be happy to organize trips to visit some of our local vineyards during your stay with us. You will be able to taste the top Valpolicella wines: Amarone, Ripasso, Recioto and Valpolicella Classico and learn how they are produced.

Mario has lived in Verona Italy all his life, while Anne arrived some 20 years ago. We set up home in Negrar, just outside Verona 10 years ago, where we live with our daughter, who speaks fluent English and Italian.

Anne teaches English at Ca' Foscari Venice University while Mario works from home where he looks after our Bed and Breakfast guests. After preparing an excellent breakfast he will get out his maps of the area and suggest the best places to see, and if asked he will also organise visits to the some of the fine vineyards in our area.

We enjoy making the most of our wonderful surroundings: Verona, Venice, Lake Garda, the Dolomites and Monte Baldo as well as the world famous leisure park, Gardaland. Anne loves swimming in Lake Garda and also in the thermal baths at Villa dei Cedri, Sirmione and Caldiero.

Anne loves swimming in Lake Garda and also in the thermal baths at Villa dei Cedri, Sirmione and Caldiero. Mario prefers quieter activities such as walking in the vineyards and olive groves behind our house. He is an expert guide to the paths in the area and is always happy to share his knowledge of walks and cycle paths, including MTB mountain bike routes in Lessinia as well as more gentle rides through the Valpolicella vineyards.

He will also provide information about sight-seeing in towns nearby, such as Venice, Padova, Vicenza, Mantova, Bologna, Rovereto, Trento and Bolzano.
