Salini is mostly known for its salt pans and the Salini Catacombs. The word salini means salt pans in (website hidden). Paul's Bay is a town in Malta, situated in the north east of the island of Malta, sixteen kilometers from the capital city Valletta. Its name refers to the shipwreck of Saint Paul. (According to the Bible, St. Paul was shipwrecked on an island which many scholars have identified as Malta on his voyage from Caesarea to Rome. The Maltese people believe that it was St. Paul who laid the foundations of Christianity on the island.)
The town is a modern tourist area - especially Qawra and Bugibba are popular nearby Salini. There are also some very pretty natural highlights close by. Heading north there is Mistra Bay, its headland and St Paul's Island. Going west and crossing the island towards &No.288;nejna Bay and Golden Bay is the scenic Wardija Ridge.
Misrah Ghar il-Kbir (informally known as Clapham Junction) is a prehistoric site in Malta near the Dingli Cliffs. It is best known for its 'cart ruts' (A complex network of tracks gouged in the rock. The age and purpose of the tracks are still a mystery of Maltese history. In general, most archaeologists presume that the site developed about 2000 BC after new settlers came over from Sicily to start the Bronze Age in Malta.).
