The Old Post Office House Bed & Breakfast

The Old Post Office House Bed & Breakfast was built in 1886 and is situated near Kyle of Lochalsh on the loch side of the beautiful Wester Ross village of Balmacara . The house has been offering quality B&B accommodation for over 10 years.

Colour TV, tea & coffee making facilities along with complimentary bottles of Highland spring water and biscuits are provided in all of our rooms. A hair dryer is also available for guests use in each room.

Breakfast is a communal affair around our 6 seat breakfast table and is served between 7.30 and 9.00 Earlier times can be arranged upon request for guests needing to leave early to catch the Western Isles ferry.

We can offer breakfast to suit special diets on request. Please let us know prior to your arrival should you require something in particular.

The property is south facing and benefits from magnificent views across Loch Alsh towards Skye as you can see at the top of the page. Kyle of Lochalsh, the gateway to the Isle of Skye is only 2 1/2 miles away, and enjoys a variety of facilities including shops, banks, leisure centre with swimming pool and also is the terminus for the Inverness to Kyle railway line.

The picturesque village of Plockton is also close by.

An extremely popular tourist destination on Scotlands North West Coast, the area boasts a large variety of leisure pursuits including hill walking, sailing, mountain biking, fishing and photography. Balmacara is only 5 miles west of the village of Dornie where the famous Eilean Donan Castle is located.

For those who like bagging munros, there are plenty to choose from, and to relax in the evenings, there are some wonderful restaurants close by, many of them providing seafood caught that day in the local area.

For nature lovers, there is a wealth of wildlife to be seen, from deer, otters, seabirds and porpoises, basking sharks and minke whales.
