Absolute Paradise Gay Bed & Breakfast

We are your perfect home-base for everything from relaxation to eco-tourism adventures, and the place to be for gay Hawaii lodging and accommodations on the Big Island! Whether you're looking for snow-capped mountains, sizzling black sand beaches, or rivers of molten lava you will find it near us on the Big Island.

A short 5 minute walk away from Absolute Paradise you will find the gay-friendly, clothing-optional black sand beach at Kehena. This is where you'll have a chance to swim with sea turtles, dolphins , and the abundant tropical fish found on the reefs. Visit us between December and March and spot migrating humpback whales from the beach. Kehena Beach is also the most gay-friendly beach on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Located in the heart of the volcanic area we are close to Volcanoes National Park, majestic waterfalls, lush tropical gardens, and breathtaking snorkeling. All our rooms have ocean views!

We are also near the Thermal Hot Springs and Ponds and the Kapoho Tide Pools where you'll experience some of the best snorkelling anywhere.
The champagne pools have hot springs in the ocean and are a favourite spot for snoozing turtles.

Volcanic attractions:
From our home base you will have easy access to the rivers of molten lava that are flowing from the summit of the Kilauea volcano. January 2008 marked the 25th consecutive year of eruption for this volcano.

This sight is particularly awesome at night, when the orange glow from
the molten lava can be seen from miles away and sometimes covers an entire hillside. Or get a bird's-eye view by taking a helicopter tour.

A 10 minute drive away are some of the Big Island's most interesting geological formations: natural steam caves. These caves and vents allow steam -- formed when rain water comes in contact with geothermally heated rock -- to escape through cracks and channels in the rock. Take a natural steam bath after a hard day at the beach. The caves are a must-see for the gay visitor to Hawaii.

Lava Tree State Park, about 15 minutes away, has some of the most intriguing lava rock formations on the entire Hawaiian Island chain. As lava flowed through old forests, it encased the larger trees -- burning them to ashes -- but not before making rock moulds of their shapes forever. The formations have been compared to Easter Island carvings, though the artist in this case was mother nature herself.

Volcanoes National Park, where you can see ancient petroglyphs, old and new lava flows, giant craters, lava tubes, Hawaiian art galleries, and much more, is about an hour away. The national park has hundreds of miles of hiking trails.

Astronomy:
Star-gazers will not want to miss a visit to the Big Island's tallest volcano, Mauna Kea (meaning white mountain in Hawaiian), which is home to several world-class international optical and RF telescopes.
