The Indigo Inn…An eclectic experience.

Recent renovations of the Indigo Inn now open as a bed and breakfast have given new life to the historic hotel. Originally called the Kimbark Inn it was designed to resemble a classic English Pub and Inn with it's large lobby on the main floor. The lobby now serves as the non-alcohol Indigo Lounge and Gallery and gift shop adjacent to the Indigo Wireless Café and Tea Room and is a delightful room to find a comfortable chair.

Grab a book and a specialty coffee or plan a private dinner, luncheons or party. It was originally furnished with comfortable overstuffed furniture and still has the beautiful wooden beamed ceiling and large brick fireplace mantel, which helps guests feel at home. Marilyn is currently working with the Michigan State Historical Preservation office to apply for National Historic Designation for the building.

The original Kimbark Inn was designed like an old English Tavern so that businessmen would feel at home while traveling. The exterior of the building does not give a fair testimony to all the building holds with in. The Inn, built in 1923, once offered 36 rooms.

They have been redecorated with in a relaxing, eclectic decor, offering a combination of English garden, south western motif & traditional style rooms inspired by the world travels of the owner. There are 8 beautiful guest rooms and a day spa now on the second floor accessed by the original wood banister stair case; made more inviting by the original skylight at the top of the stairs, now restored can reached through the French doors to the East off the beautiful ceramic tiled foyer

The other two glass doors off the foyer lead to the Indigo Wireless Café and Tea Room on the south side of the building and the BrassWind Gallery to the North towards Main Street.

The Tea Room has been recently redecorated with matching burgundy wing chairs and a cabriole legged French carved sofa table and coffee table to compliment the leather Victorian style sofa. The room is set for tea with elegant tasseled table runners. The three front windows are accented with dressy satin draperies and the light cascades across the room making the silver tea set sparkle.

If you prefer a more casual atmosphere step into the Indigo Wireless café which occupies the original dining room of the old Inn. You will not recognize this cheerful dining area, open for lunch, breakfast, desserts and specialty coffees and organic tea, which once served as tanning parlor and clothing store.

The Down and Under Bar & Grille is, located down the stairs just outside of the Indigo Inn and Wireless Cafe. Once the former Rathskellar, the bar has been redecorated and it seems as if the safari meets the outback in this themed bar where you can listen to some music, try some jungle juice, play some pool in the original billiards room from the old hotel an enjoy photographs from Marilyn's trips around the world.

The Indigo Inn Bed & Breakfast is perfect for your wedding party and rehearsal dinner, out of town guests, vacation or just to get away and be pampered for a night. The Indigo Lounge or Tea Room provides a charming place to host a card party, Red Hat society Luncheon, wedding or baby shower, business meeting or family dinner with no charge for the room if you order food.
