Island House of Wanchese B&B

Island House Bed & Breakfast is located in the old fishing village of Wanchese on Roanoke Island. It is a small community, that is quiet, quaint, and close to the beautiful Nags Head beaches.

Roanoke Island has many interesting attractions of its own .. North Carolina Aquarium, Elizabethan Gardens, Elizabeth II Historic Center, Festival State Park, Fort Raleigh Historic Site, Lost Colony and the Wanchese Industrial Fishing Center.

Roanoke Island also has some of the best restaurants on the outer banks,
Strippers, 1587, Weeping Radish, Waterfront Trellis and the Full Moon Cafe.

Days at Island House begin with an appetizing southern style buffet breakfast served daily in the dining room which includes fresh fruits, yogurts, assorted juices, tea & coffee, in addition we serve 1 of the following hot entrees: Pancakes, waffles, french toast, various egg recipes, hot fruit compotes, sausage gravy, southern style grits accompanied by bacon, sausage links or ham.

After that, the choice is yours. The area's many attractions may capture your fancy but lounging around the house is not without its own appeal.

There is a guest pantry open 24 hours a day for our guests' convenience.

There are three rooms and one suite at the Inn. All are decorated with antiques and offer private baths, color cable televisions/dvd/vcr players, radios, and central air conditioning.

We provide beach towels, chairs and beach umbrellas for our guests.

Island House is a romantic retreat which provides a smoke free adult atmosphere, although, smoking is permitted outside or in the gazebo.

Zena's Room
Quilts adorn the walls and bed along with old quilt sample pictures. Antique oak queen size bed with feather bedding, matching dresser and dry sink dresser, oak armoire, 2 wicker chairs, an inviting oriental rug, cabana fan, clock radio and color cable TV/dvd. A cozy bathroom with stall shower, pedestal sink round out this comfortable room.

Cleo's Room
Delightful shades of blue and white make this room the most requested room at the inn. Painted white antique oak and wicker furniture brighten the room.
A queen size comfort-select bed with beautiful blue and white quilts welcome you to relax. Oriental rugs add warmth and color to the palette. Claw foot soaking tub with shower and a unique pedestal sink. Cabana fan, color TV/DVD and clock radio.

Lexi's Room
A bright sunny room with warm pinks and yellows, an antique French mahogany and mixed woods queen size bed with feather bedding. English armoire, Irish double dresser, a wicker settee, and a delicate yellow and white oriental rug. Roomy bathroom with corner shower. Cabana fan, color cable TV/DVD and clock radio.

Willie's Hideaway Suite
The suite is located in the new section of the B&B over the innkeepers living area making it a very private and romantic hideaway.
Antique oak queen size bed with feather bedding and down comforter, small oak dresser, ladies dressing table with chair, TV with a vcr/dvd, and clock radio with dvd player and cabana fan.

Adjoining is a sitting area with a wicker love seat with pillows, a vcr & tv, cabana fan, and gas log fireplace to warm the soul when it gets a little chilly at night.

The large bathroom has a beautiful stained glass window overlooking the tub size jacuzzi, a stall shower and elegant pedestal sink.

This room is perfect for relaxing the night away.
