Bluegum Hill is situated on Merriman Road, a quiet, cu-de-sac, and one of the top-most roads of Green Point, alongside the Signal Hill Nature Reserve, with its indigenous Bluegum trees, aloes and guinea fowl. Upper Greenpoint is one of Cape Town's up-market residential areas highly sought after for its convenient position, great weather and views.

Enjoy a full one hundred and eighty degree view of the suburbs below, overlooking Table Bay, with its' working Harbour, and the world famous V&A Waterfront, Aquarium and the Imax Theatre. We also directly overlook the site for the new World Cup 2010 Soccer Stadium!

Looking left one sees the coastal suburb of Mouille Point with its' original lighthouse and seaside promenade. On clear days one can see waves breaking on the shoreline of Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela spent his long prison term.

Across the bay, lies Bloubergstrand with the Tygerberg Hills in the background. From our balcony, guests enjoy planning their route to the sights below.

Signal Hill separates Green Point and the City Center. Therefore the guesthouse has the ideal location; a quick two minute drive and you are in the heart of South Africa's' Mother City, which dates back to April 1652, with its' many markets, shops, restaurants, pubs, museums, the Planetarium, the Castle and the famous Company Gardens. Being so close to the City and Waterfront it is easy and affordable to make use of metered taxis without having to hire a car for your stay in Cape Town!

The Waterfront is a close 5-minute drive away, it is 2 minutes to the City centre, 15 minutes to Cape Towns' famous Clifton beaches and the sandy, sunny beach at Camps Bay. Table Mountain awaits you, just a short 10-minute drive away.

Set on a slope, Bluegum Hill is a double storey house. You arrive and make your way down the steps to the main entrance. This hillside position affords beautiful sea views from the open plan kitchen, dining room, top and bottom lounges, balcony and pool deck, as well as four of our well kept, immaculately clean and characterful en-suite bedrooms, all lovingly and individually decorated to reflect the colours and culture of South Africa.

We offer one small single bedroom, with shower bathroom, and five double bedrooms, all with en-suite showers and baths, and can accommodate eleven guests. All bedrooms are airconditioned, well equipped with hairdryers, wall safes, heaters, extra cotton blankets, radio-alarm clocks, pool towels and other practicalities.

The house is warm and welcoming and the lounge area with TV and M-Net, is a cosy, communal space where you can relax after an exciting day sightseeing, and meet other guests from all over the world, who are also enjoying the wonders of Cape Town. Let us help you pick a good restaurant from our recommendations for a sumptuous evening meal, or stay in and eat at home with Cape Town's great delivery service, Mr. Delivery.

Read a good book out on the balcony, or step out to the tranquility of the lookout deck, work lazily on your tan or cool off in the sparkling saltwater pool surrounded by our sub-tropical garden.

Take a break from the sun, seat yourself under thatched- top bomas and simply savour the moving picture of our awesome sea views directly below you … ships, yachts, and the ever-changing sky and seas, whilst enjoying a sundowner from our Honesty Bar, which is well stocked with a good selection of wines, beer, cool-drinks, mineral water, spirits and liquors as well as sweet and savoury snacks. Witness the most amazing sunrises and sunsets!

Our location makes it considerably more wind free as the guesthouse is protected by Signal Hill, we therefore tend to enjoy better weather than other areas of our beautiful City Even in our Green Season we still often enjoy sunny, warm days here at Bluegum Hill.

We offer a freshly prepared to order generous Full English Breakfast, with all the trimmings. Pure fruit juice, freshly made fruit salad, creamy yoghurts and cereals complete the menu. Enjoy bottomless cups of Filter coffee, try our selection of teas or treat yourself to a cup of Hot Chocolate!

In good weather you can enjoy breakfast alfresco, out on the balcony, while watching the world wake beneath you. During the day help yourself to complimentary tea, coffee, fruit, biscuits and sweets or sip on a complimentary glass of Sherry in the evenings…
