Quintet Bed & Breakfast
Our three-story 1939 garden lane house belonged to the family of a Chinese medical doctor. Three generations grew up and grew old in this house, witnessing the World War II, the beginning of New China, the Cultural Revolution, and the transformation of modern-day Shanghai.
Much of the house's original art deco designs have been preserved, with some spaces creatively adapted to suit modern living. Walk up half a floor, and you are at our office-cum-lounge, where you can use the courtesy house computer, browse through our selection of books, magazines, and DVD's, or chat with our friendly staff.
On the second and third floors are our four guestrooms, Grand Cathay, Joffre, Bubbling Well, and Fleur de Shanghai. On the top floor is a unique loft room, Aurora, as well as a pleasant rooftop terrace, where guests can soak up the sun or just chill out.
Our café is located on the ground floor, where Quintet guests can enjoy breakfast indoors or in the lovely veranda garden. The café also serves lunches and dinners.
Guests can choose from five stylish bedrooms, each decorated with rich, atmospheric colours and textures that bring back the allure and sophistication of Shanghai during the heydays of the 1930's. The period's art deco designs are harmoniously juxtaposed with Chinese elements to highlight the fusion between the east and the west that is uniquely Shanghai. Together, this Quintet of rooms embodies Shanghai's glamour, culture, wisdom, passion, and spirit.
We have also designed our rooms to keep your five senses pampered. From extra-thick foam core mattresses, hypoallergenic pillows, and pure silk comforters, to spa bath and body products with essential oils, large-screen LCD TV, and gourmet breakfast in bed, we go the extra distance to maximize your comfort. Knowledgeable staff can assist with special requests.
