Susie and John Stakes welcome you to their 18thC timber beamed AA 4star guest house situated just off Keswick's award winning market square on the edge of the pedestrian precinct in the oldest part of Keswick.

Our central yet quiet location ensures all Keswick's major attractions including the celebrated Theatre By The Lake, Derwentwater, James Bond and Pencil Museums as well as Keswick's many pubs, restaurants shops, galleries and restaurants, are either on our doorstep or just a short stroll away.

Honister House is a perfect blend of old world charm and the best of modern facilities including flat screen TVs with built in DVDs, internet connection and works by featured local artists on display.

All our rooms are en-suite, tastefully decorated to a high standard and with hospitality trays stocked with filter coffee, a range of teas and chocolate and home made biscuits.
Honister House has been awarded an AA 'Best Breakfast' award, is Vegetarian Society approved and we cater for all dietary requirements. All our food is locally sourced, organic where possible and we support Fairtrade.

We are as environmentally sensitive as possible and have received a CEBN bronze award.

Our guest house is unique in having its own jewellery shop on site ( 'Karen-Rose' ) which specialises in hand made local jewellery made on the premises and inspired by our magnificent local scenery. 10%discounts exclusive to Honister House guests on all items!

Keswick is arguably the best centre for walking in the Lake District and many of the walks can be undertaken straight from Honister House. We have a library of books and guides to plan your day and John has a particular knowledge of the Borrowdale valley and mountain paths as an experienced footpath repairer for the National Trust.

Keswick is also a major base for exploring the Lake District's many other attractions including Honister Slate Mine, Derwentwater's two marinas and launch service, Whinlatter Forest, and the homes of William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter and the landscape which inspired them both.
