Burleigh Mead Bed & Breakfast Keswick
Burleigh Mead is a welcoming bed and breakfast quietly situated on The Heads, possibly the finest location in Keswick. The town centre is a short, level walk away, whilst in the other direction a stroll through Hope Park takes you past the highly acclaimed 'Theatre by the Lake' and down to the shores of Derwentwater. From here you can take a cruise on one of the launches around the lake or if you're feeling energetic carry on walking to Friars Crag for a spectacular view of the 'Jaws of Borrowdale' then on around the lake.
Bedrooms are furnished to a high standard and all the en-suites have recently been refurbished. Easy chairs are provided for your comfort whilst relaxing in the room. All rooms have fabulous views; to the north the majestic Skiddaw range stands guard over Keswick with Latrigg and Blencathra. To the south are the Borrowdale and Newlands Valleys with Cat Bells, one of Wainwright's favourites, beckoning from across the lake.
Our guest lounge is situated on the ground floor adjacent to the dining room where you can enjoy a leisurly breakfast and marvel at the wondrous views stretching out across Hope Park, to the fells beyond Derwentwater and further still, to the Borrowdale Valley and distant Glaramara.
For those who wish to enjoy our incredibly beautiful scenery without moving too far, our garden with patio provides the right setting for doing just that.
Keswick is an ideal base for exploring the Lake District. There is an abundance of fells to climb including Skiddaw, Helvellyn, Blencathra and England's highest peak, Scafell Pike. For water enthusiasts there are The Lakes - Ullswater, Windermere, Rydal, Grasmere, Coniston, Buttermere, Crummock, Thirlmere, Bassenthwaite and Derwentwater, all easily accessible from Keswick. There is golfing, fishing, cycling, walking and bird watching, in particular the Ospreys. All in wonderful countryside.
