Denton Hall is a lovely informal country house boasting unique period features and set within its own grounds. Both the building and its immediate environs are hosts to medieval structures of considerable historical interest. This comfortable home is a great place to soak up the atmosphere of times past.

The original stonework has been sensitively restored and now presents a warm, characterful aura the moment you cross the threshold.

The exposed stonework is a feature in many areas and gives one a very real feel for the history of the house. Two of the bedrooms look out towards Hadrian’s Wall and Pike Hill with its signal tower which predates the Roman Emperor’s border fortification. The third guest room looks over the paddock and ancient motte to the farmland beyond.

We have a cosy guest sitting room with comfy chairs and sofa for you to relax, chat, read or reflect on the day’s events. There is a selection of games, books, magazines, videos and DVDs to choose from should the weather turn inclement - or if you wish to take a break from a busy schedule of outdoor activities.

With two family rooms and one double room, we welcome everyone - from single travellers to groups of six - to our home. We promise you a warm welcome, generous helpings of freshly cooked, free range produce and very comfortable rooms with en suite facilities.

The Pele Tower Room
As the name suggests, the 14th C Pele Tower is incorporated into this incredible 21ft long bedroom with its magnificent en suite and very own spiral stone stairway. There is a king size and single day bed as well as a sofa, large television and DVD player so a family can stay for an extended break in comfort. The 2 metre thick walls contain a lovely large window looking out over farmland which was a familiar haunt of the border Reivers. This family room (which can easily sleep four) is also available for couples who are looking for that special place - perhaps to celebrate a particular anniversary or enjoy the distinctive allure of days of yore.

The Reiver Room
This is a bright and spacious room, simply furnished, which has a wonderfully comfortable double bed and an outlook over the stables to the Reiver lands. The en suite includes ‘the most powerful shower ever’ within a double size enclosure and there is a very fresh feel to the room as a whole.

The South Room
Another very spacious, bright and airy room with both a king size and single bed making it a comfortable option either for a family, a couple who like extra space or friends who wish to share a room but not a bed. The generous en suite has a bath and a powerful hand held shower attachment - the best of both worlds. The room is south facing and looks out over the paddock and across farmland.

Childminding / babysitting can be arranged with a police checked, childcare and First Aid qualified member of our family.

British Sign Language 'spoken' and Dementia Aware and friendly.

Our horses are friendly and will always be happy to accept an apple or polo mint. Ellie the Dwarf Lop Eared rabbit loves a cuddle and Muffin the Lhasa Apso is often the first to welcome guests.

Horse B&B in our newly renovated stables can be arranged. We can also provide kennels, if required, but clean, well-behaved dogs will be very welcome within the house - however some restrictions may apply. Please feel free to chat with us about the options available.

Local attractions include Hadrian’s Wall and Lanercost Priory, each within a few miles of the house. We are happy to transport walkers to/from Hadrian’s Wall and will be pleased to arrange evening meals either here at home or at one of the highly recommended eateries. The village of Brampton is only 4 miles away and Haltwhistle, some 8 miles to the east, with its outdoor swimming pool and leisure centre is seen by many as the ‘Centre of Britain’.

Where are we?
Denton Hall is conveniently situated, just 12 miles from Carlisle & Gretna Green and 45 miles from Newcastle. From the A69, take the turning into Low Row, proceed over the railway crossing carrying on straight ahead for about 100metres. Look out for the small signs, which direct you to take the left turn down a track, over the cattle grid and you will find us on the left.
