If you like cycling, bring your bicycles with you when you stay with us and we can show you some great trails, like the Tissington Trail, which is an old rail line, no longer used and a popular destination for cyclists.
Thorpe Cloud is also a favourite place for walkers, as climb to the top of this limestone hill, you can see all of Derbyshire! Breathtaking and very scenic! Once you've taken in the views, work your way back down the bottom to the other side and cross over the famous stepping stones over the River Dove and start a lovely exploration into the Dovedale Walk.
There's so many interesting sites and pieces of historic beauty, all of which are made naturally. The historic stories make the walk even more interesting. Milldale is a place to stop and have a rest and then continue on into Alstonefield. Once there, have a nice pub lunch at The George pub. Its a real walkers pub and good food. After a good rest, then make your way back to Thorpe Cottage. And that's just for starters!
Or you might want to visit Chatsworth House, which we call the Pearl of the Peak. Such a beautiful stately home and open to the public. The grounds are magnificent, there's a conservatory with loads of rare and unusual plants growing inside.
The water feature outside is like nothing you've ever seen before. Cascading water that is so clear, you'll be tempted to have a drink! They have a very nice, high quality farm shop there as well. All top quality foods, many items made locally from the Peak District. They also have some fantastic walking paths worth exploring. Just don't forget to bring your camera, as the scenery is just stunning.
