Turnstones Luxury Bed & Breakfast
Turnstones is an ideal base if you are on business in the area or visiting Dorset on holiday. The house is within easy reach of Abbotsbury, West Bay and Bridport to the West, Dorchester and Blandford to the North, and Poole and Bournemouth to the East.
Every kind of leisure pursuit is catered for; from sailing, wind and kite surfing, diving, and climbing, to fishing, bird and butterfly watching, walking, photography, painting and sculpture.
Right on the doorstep there's sail training at the National Sailing Academy, and the Laser School, plus kite surfing courses at the Paracademy. There's fishing off Chesil Beach, and the Island of Portland is also a bird watching mecca; in spring and autumn a magnet for migrating birds as they move to and from their breeding grounds.
Nearby there's also The Fleet Lagoon and the RSPB reserve in Radipole, Weymouth. The Isle of Portland is one of the most popular sport climbing venues in the South West of England with over 800 routes recorded along its coastal sea cliffs, and their dramatic setting, and spectacular views, make it an unforgettable place to visit for climbers - and photographers and artists.
The Island is of course famous for its Portland stone, used in building St. Paul's Cathedral, with former quarries sites of special scientific interest. There are sculpture courses for beginners and practising artists in Tout Quarry run by the Portland Sculpture Trust.
We can provide information, advice, and assistance on all these pursuits.
