Payne's Down Cottage B & B

Situated in West Dorset, overlooked by Pilsdon Hill (the highest point in Dorset), Payne's Down Cottage offers one of the best views in the county over the Synderford Valley towards Cricket St. Thomas and Chard.

An excellent spot for rest and relaxation or a quiet stroll around the fields viewing the alpacas.

We are also a good location for water sports being only 8 miles from Lyme Regis and the sea. At Lyme Regis you will also find a good spot for fossilling and at nearby Charmouth there is the Visitors' Centre - an ideal place to study the Jurassic Coastline.

Further along the coast at Abbotsbury you will find the world famous Swannery and the Sub-tropical Gardens as well as the delightful Childrens' Farm with its goats, guinea-pigs, and budgies to name but a few. There is always something to see and do in the area.

We have many good Pubs and Restaurants in the area, English, Chinese, Thai and Indian. Shopping is varied from small individual shops in Bridport, Axminster, Lyme Regis and Sidmouth to the larger retail chains in Yeovil, Dorchester and Exeter - not forgetting Clarke's Village Retail Outlet at Street.

For golfing enthusiasts there are courses at West Bay, Nr. Bridport and at Lyme Regis.

Don't forget to leave time to see our alpacas and have a relaxing walk down over the fields to enjoy the views.

Our recently built accommodation comprises one double room, one twin room and one family room with twin beds and bunk beds. Full English breakfast (or a lighter choice) is, of course, included.

All rooms have ensuite shower rooms, TVs, hairdryers and hospitality trays.

We have ample off-road parking and this is a non-smoking establishment.

Children over 5 are most welcome - alpacas especially like to see children! Sorry, no pets!
