No 27 Boutique Bed & Breakfast Accommodation in Bridport
No 27 Barrack Street is a unique place to stay, quiet and characterful and yet right in the centre of Bridport. The house has recently been renovated to reveal the original flagstones on the ground floor, as well as having a beautiful extension added to the kitchen and dining area. As a stylish bed and breakfast you will struggle to find better.
Guests may make themselves at home in the drawing room with its grand piano and sash windows or in the lovely sunny walled garden - a perfect place to have breakfast on a warm summer’s morning.
All the amenities of this interesting lively town are just round the corner, yet inside the house or sitting in the garden you could be in the middle of the country.
The house has three quiet bedrooms, all with down duvets and pillows and high quality bed linen. The Shaker Room has its own luxury bathroom/wetroom across the landing with a rain shower and underfloor heating. The Green Room is a quiet room on the first floor with two large windows facing north and west, the latter overlooking the garden. It has a double bed and its own modern bathroom next door with bath and shower. The Attic Room is a charming room situated above the Green Room with its own staircase. It has a great view over the garden and is ideal for friends or children (not toddlers) of people staying in the Green Room. It has two single beds, one a standard single and the other a 2ft 6” futon. It shares the bathroom with the Green Room which is at the bottom of a flight of stairs and therefore not suitable for the elderly or the very young.
Breakfasts are both generous and delicious. Juliet has lived in France and learned to cook there. You’ll have unsalted butter, homemade jams and marmalade, freshly squeezed orange juice, crusty fresh bread, and free range eggs. The tea is loose leaf and the coffee freshly ground. You’ll be offered a wide choice of breakfasts to suit all tastes, from oatmeal porridge, pancakes with bacon and maple syrup, kidneys and bacon, kippers, as well as bacon and eggs, omelettes and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. Where possible, the ingredients are locally sourced and always of the highest quality. Breakfasts are served either in the garden, weather permitting, or in the beautiful kitchen extension and dining room.
The Shaker Room is a light, spacious room on the second floor with two sash windows and a gorgeous view over the chimneys and hills beyond. It has painted floor boards and furniture in pleasing shades of grey. The bed is kingsize, and if requested a single camp bed can be put up for a child.
Juliet runs her home, No 27, as a stylish, contemporary bed and breakfast. She has been many things in her life, including a classical dancer, an education officer, and an English and drama teacher. She has also travelled to many places including Australia, New Zealand, Africa and America and has spent many years living in France.
The accommodation combines quality with informality; quality in the form of comfortable beds, goose down duvets, cotton sheets, plenty of hot water and immaculately clean bathrooms. Quality also in the breakfasts which contain the best local ingredients, homemade marmalade and jam, organic porridge, freshly squeezed orange juice, unsalted butter, free range eggs, freshly ground coffee and loose leaf tea.
As for informality, guests are encouraged to make themselves at home and enjoy convivial breakfasts round the large kitchen table. They are welcome to make themselves tea and take it out into the garden with any available scones or cakes, or to sit upstairs in the peaceful drawing room. They may come and go during the day and have as much privacy as they want or feel free to sit and have a chat.
