The Strathmore Arms
The Strathmore Arms is a semi rural traditional public house and Bed & Breakfast situated in the hamlet of Holwick, County Durham. It is just a couple of miles away from the tourist area of Middleton In Teesdale & around 10 miles from the major tourist town of Barnard Castle. The Strathmore is situated on The Pennine Way and is a great stop off point for both ramblers and tourists alike.
The major local tourist attractions of High force (England’s biggest waterfall) & Low Force are only a few miles away. The Strathmore Arms has 4 letting rooms (2 twin, 1 double, 1 family) and a full breakfast menu is available to residents. The pub offers a bar food menu, and evening meals for residents are available upon request.
The pub is traditional in style and offers a range of fine cask ales. There is a pool table for anyone that is feeling competitive & an open fire in the bar for the more relaxed amongst you.
The Strathmore offers camping facilities all year round in the field to the rear of the pub. A toilet block is open 24 hours a day when people are camping. The bar is doggy friendly so bringing your pets on long walks is not a problem. One of the letting rooms is also doggy friendly at a minimal extra charge. The letting rooms are £60 per room per night including a full English breakfast.
The local area is classed as an area of outstanding natural beauty and is well worth a visit. The Strathmore is open all year round including Christmas. This makes it ideal for that short break at any time of the year. A warm welcome is a certainty if you stay at The Strathmore Arms. It is a place where there are no strangers, only friends that have not yet met.
