Little Shiplake

Little Shiplake is a self contained annex converted from an 18th century cattle barn, and sits completely separate, and across the yard from the owners main house. Little Shiplake consists of one double bedroom with walk in wardrobe, a lounge with double sofa bed and TV (with free view), dining room table and chairs, a fully fitted kitchen with oven, washing machine, fridge toaster and kettle and a brand new bathroom fitted in January 2013 with a large and impressive shower. It has its own dedicated garden, with picnic table and bbq, and is set in 15 acres of Sussex countryside.

Guests are welcome to stroll down our fields to our woodland at the bottom where they can follow a footpath leading to the village Church, then a lane to the local pub and shop. In the spring the woodland is a sea of beautiful Bluebells and so makes for a lovely walk. We are happy to provide a picnic hamper for a small cost and for families with children, a ride on the family pony is included in their stay.

Breakfast Juices and cereal can be found in Little Shiplakes kitchen for your convenience, and a full English breakfast is cooked in the main house but brought over to you at Little Shiplake for your privacy, at an agreed time. All food is sourced from local farm shops where available and the eggs from our chickens in the garden when possible.

The Village of Laughton is only 3 miles from Glyndebourne Opera House and so we are in a great location for those attending the opera. We are 6 miles from Lewes, Uckfield and Hailsham. Brighton and Eastbourne are about 10 miles away.

Within the area there are lots of local attractions including Lewes castle, Wilderness Woods, Bentley Wildfowl and Motor museum and many childrens activity farms. We are also in the heart of the South Downs and so walking is readily available. We are a small family run business and like to think we offer a friendly and warm service with a country feel and a relaxing atmosphere.

Little Shiplake is also available to hire on a self catering basis if required. We have a fairly large vegetable plot and a box of complementary vegetables will be offered to you on arrival when available.
