17th Century Farmhouse Bed & Breakfast Newland, Forest of Dean
We have welcomed visitors to the Wye Valley AONB for 34 years, many come to explore the stunning landscapes that lie along the Lower Wye Valley and to enjoy the vistas from the high wooded plateau of the Forest of Dean, or to pursue the activities offered in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Rowing, cycling, walking, climbing, the zip wires of Go Ape are nearby, as are the superb bluebell woods in the spring, spectacular protected orchid meadows and the autumnal colours of the Wye Valley are a particular joy.
The beautiful hills of the Forest of Dean rise between the Lower Wye Valley and the river Severn running out to its great estuary. At Tan House you are in Gloucestershire, but the Welsh border is but a mile, and Herefordshire a short ten minute drive.
Guests can expect Peter's famous breakfasts, cooked using locally butchered meats, eggs from our very own chickens and locally grown/produced veg and bread. If a lighter breakfast should take your fancy, then a fantastic selection of cereals and toasted bread are also on offer.
The following are just a few of our great customer reviews:
'Eight of us, stayed in four rooms, the first weekend of March 2014. Having read all the previous reviews I agree with everything that has been said.
I want to repeat that the owners have lovely well behaved pets, and their home is immaculately clean.
The breakfast was delicious. The rooms were very warm. The rooms are all large (in fact, they are larger than what the photos show).
The furniture in the house is amazing, mostly built by the owner, and some antiques.
There was plenty of room for all the cars to park. We did not hear any external noise at all.
There is so much to do nearby ... this is a great place to visit.'
'Some things should never change and the hospitality of this wonderful relaxing place made two nights feel like a week, a comfy room and fabulous breakfast. Surrounded by great scenery, lovely walks, great pubs, and places to eat, with the friendliest people on the planet.
If we had the money we would buy it too and not change a thing even the hosts Peter and Christie would have to stay, along with the dogs and cat of course. We promise not to leave it so long before our next visit. If you like to chill and chat in an amazing house this is the place for you.'
