Charcott Farmhouse Bed & Breakfast
Discover one of the 'hidden places' of Kent, yet still be within easy reach of many of its' most popular attractions at this friendly, family-run B&B. Surrounded by superb walking country the listed farmhouse now forms part of a peaceful homestead well away from roads and traffic.
The 3 twin bedrooms (1 on ground floor for easy access) are attractively furnished with traditional country fabrics, are all centrally heated and have either en-suite or private facilities. All rooms have ample clothes storage space, contain tea & coffee-making facilities, hair-dryer, towels, toiletries and mineral water. Each room also contains a small complimentary flask of sherry.
Breakfasts are eaten communally round the old oak dining-room table with individual requirements and timings to suit. Menus vary from a simple continental through to home cooked ham with poached eggs, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, kippers, escalopes wrapped in bacon, waffles with maple syrup and not forgetting a traditional farmhouse breakfast with fried eggs, giant field mushrooms, bacon, tomatoes and sausages. All accompanied by homemade yoghurt & piles of home-made bread, jams and marmalade.
The old beamed bake house provides a small sitting room with colour TV where guests can relax in the evenings and in the summer, whenever weather permits, tea is served outside on the brick terrace overlooking the lawn to the west of the house.
For evening meals, both the Greyhound Pub and the Little Brown Jug are within easy walking distance. For those wishing to go further afield there is the Castle Inn at Chiddingsone and The Rock at Chiddingstone Hoath - and don't miss the opportunity to sample a pint of Larkins Bitter, brewed locally in the village of Chiddingstone.
Gatwick airport is 40 minutes drive away and London is easily reached either from the local station of Penshurst where trains run hourly to London Bridge or from nearby Hildenborough, Tonbridge or Sevenoaks where trains run more frequently direct to Charing Cross.
Hosts, Nick & Ginny Morris are friendly & welcoming, always happy to answer queries & will do their best to ensure you return home with happy memories of your stay in The Garden of England. Children & pets are welcome provided they are cat & chicken friendly!
