The Pebbles Cottage was formerly a pair of farm cottages, built around 1890, that were joined together to make one detached house. The Pebbles has been fully & tastefully renovated in 2018 and is now a family run Guest House, with all bedrooms having en-suite shower rooms. We serve a Full English breakfast and offer Evening Meals, (see our menu) that can be requested when making a reservation.
The Cottage is surrounded by its own peaceful gardens with garden chairs and umbrellas where you can sit and relax. There is ample off road parking. Situated in an idyllic rural location with extensive views over the Romney Marsh countryside and yet only 5 minutes from the Cinque port town of Hythe.
We are ideally situated for the M20 (Junction 11) and The Channel Tunnel Terminal which are both approximately 4 miles away and there are mainline railway stations at Ashford 11miles, Folkstone 8 miles, Saltwood and Westenhanger, approximately 3 miles away.
There are many things to do in Romney Marsh, The Royal Military Canal is just a mile away at the nearest point where you will find plenty of parking and a quirky eating place called The Hatch from here there are dedicated walking and cycling paths along the side of the Canal. The Royal Military Canal Boat Hire is only 2.5 miles down the road in Hythe, where rowing boats can be hired & they run canal trips in an Electric Passenger Launch from Easter to September. For steam train enthusiasts a trip on the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Steam Railway is something not to be missed.
Two nice eating places nearby are Botolphs Bridge Inn, at the end of Burmarsh Road & The Shepherd & Crook, next to Burmarsh Church in Shear Way. Kent has 15 Castles, the most in any county in the British Isles, The nearest to the Guest House are Lympne Castle, Westenhanger, Saltwood Castle & Sandgate Castle but Dover Castle (18 miles), Walmer Castle & Deal Castle (25 miles) are not too far away.
There are many historic churches in Romney Marsh, the one at St Mary in the Marsh has the grave in the churchyard of Elizabeth Nesbit (author of the Railway Children) and Burmarsh's 12th century All Saints Church is under 3 miles away on Church Road. St Leonard's Church in Hythe has the largest and best-preserved collection of ancient human bones and skulls in Britain.
If the sea & beach is preferable then the long sandy beach at Dymchurch is approximately 3 miles away. Dymchurch also has a Church dating back to Norman times in the 12th Century.
