Ryedale Vineyards
Enjoy the unique experience of staying on the most northerly commercial vineyard in England, and visit some of the many and diverse attractions this region has to offer. We have Castle Howard, Hovingham and Helmsley close by, several of the Yorkshire Abbeys within easy driving distance. Or if you want to have a day at the coast, Whitby, Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington are all within easy reach. Birdwatchers are particularly welcome ~ if you are planning a tour of Yorkshire reserves, we are within easy reach of Bempton, Filey Dams, Wheldrake Ings, with Spurn Point and Blacktoft Sands just a little further away. On the Vineyards we have a wide variety of species of bird living and nesting including Tree sparrows and Barn owls, and as we work on the vines we are amongst soaring skylarks and swooping swallows.
Rooms Description
We have two rooms sleeping two each.
The Attic Suite has the oldest visible features of the house, the cruck and beams date back to around 1600. It is comfortably furnished and wonderfully decorated in neutral colours. The Attic suite offers a double bed, also with a single so it can be used as twin (no triple occupancy). It has a dressing table/desk which is suitable for working at, and two comfortable chairs. There is a private shower room.
The Vine Room, is so named as it is furnished in soft shades of colours found in a vineyard! It has an en-suite shower room.
Both rooms are equipped with a television, drinks tray and a hairdryer.
Guests are served with an appetising breakfast in the farmhouse dining room which has been decorated and furnished in a style appropriate to the period and character of the house.
Get your day off to a good start with fresh fruit salad, muesli, seeds and yoghurt, or traditional cereal. We buy as much British fruit as we are able when it is available ~ so our fruit salads vary from one season to another.
We use, wherever possible, local and seasonal produce. Bacon and sausages are from a local butcher who sources his meat from a farm in Old Malton. Free Range eggs are from a variety of Yorkshire producers. We use tomatoes and summer fruits from Yorkshire or surrounding counties, or from as far away as Scotland! Butter is from a Yorkshire dairy. Tea and coffee are Taylors of Harrogate, or are Fairtrade. The honey we serve is always Yorkshire honey, sometimes from hives on the vineyard, and our wonderful jams and marmalades are made by my 80 year old Mum
