Welcome to The Priory
The Priory, Syresham, is one of the oldest houses in the village, having Tudor origins with later Georgian additions. It is spacious and quiet, being on the edge of the village on the road to Wappenham. Suitable for anyone seeking b&b in Brackley, Towcester or Silverstone. The village has a shop and pub and has won Northamptonshire Village of the Year in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Inside guests will find 15th century stone arches from Luffield Abbey, dissolved in The Reformation and now covered by Silverstone Circuit. Public rooms are decorated with flowers. portraits and period furniture. We have a high proportion of returning guests, drawn by the quiet, dog-friendly atmosphere and the AGA-cooked Full English with free range eggs laid by The Priory hens.
The accommodation comprises one freshly decorated en suite double/twin bedroom and one double with private bathroom. Both overlook the classical rose garden towards the church. Other bedrooms have shared facilities.
The Priory has a hard tennis court and three-acre garden. There are TVs in rooms, together with WIFI throughout and cots can be provided. Outside there is secure parking for up to 20 cars, including covered barns.
We are one of the best placed b&bs in Northamptonshire for Silverstone, Brackley and Towcester. We are also near Stowe National Trust Gardens and School. Sulgrave Manor (birthplace of George Washington's ancestors), Althorp and Bicester Village are all nearby, as well as the towns of Banbury and Northampton. Stratford-upon-Avon, Milton Keynes and Oxford are each just 30 minutes away.
The Kings Head Pub in the village serves dinner nightly and we will be pleased to book tables there for our guests.
There is a fine, normally open, Norman church next to The Priory, with recently re-exposed 11th century murals. The house used to be home to trainee priests in the Middle Ages and several old beams remain from that era. Others are ships' timbers from the Napoleonic Wars.
Outside there is a fine selection of barns, some of which are occupied by our rare Polish hens and by other egg providers. The house and garden are hosts to the annual summer Syresham Church Fete with sideshows and tennis. Extra parking is available in a field opposite.
