The Reading Rooms
Gill welcomes guests to The Reading Rooms Bed and Breakfast, 'home from home' accommodation. Modern and well appointed, guests can be assured of a comfortable stay. All the rooms are en suite, with well equipped hospitality trays, fresh milk and hairdryers. With one large twin and two double rooms we can sleep families and small groups up to 10. A drying room is available and also laundry service.
Breakfasts are substantial and cooked to order using local produce, vegetarian and other dietary requirements catered for. Packed lunches are provided when required.
Evening meals are easily found within walking distance at either The General Haverlock or The Anchor. Other Village facilities include a chemist, bank with ATM and Co Op open 8am til late with post office.
Our location makes a stop over on the way to or from Scotland very easy as is access to Newcastle Airport and Railway Stations at either Newcastle or Carlilse.
Gill has a wealth of local knowledge of wonderful places to visit, from where to comb a Highland cow to where to see a Dolls house exhibition. Whatever your interests Northumberland has something to offer, City Centre chic to quaint Village, ruined castles and well tended gardens.
There are National Trust properties, Cragside and Wallington, gardens small and huge. The fantastic Alnwick Garden will keep young and old entertained but my advice if you have children is to take a towel! The Garden Station just up the road at Langley and little gems like Herterton house are all weel worth a visit.
The North East Coast is fabulous at any time of the year, miles of sand and not a soul about, all the way from St Mary's lighthouse in Tynemouth to Bambrough Castle, home of duke of Northumberland and Harry Potter.
