The Dovecote
Unique self-contained B&B accommodation in Grade II Listed, 18th century dovecote. Set in an acre of beautiful gardens, just across the lane from the main family home. The dovecote provides totally private luxury accommodation over 2 floors. The upper floor is lined with the original nesting boxes - and has been carefully converted into a beautiful bedroom for 2 people with lovely views over the garden and the open countryside. The room can be either twin or double (with a superking sized bed).
We provide a selection of DVDs for you and there is also an i-pod docking facility on the TV. We also provide a hairdryer and radio alarm clock.
There is a double shower room and living area downstairs. You have a table and chairs and a kitchen area with sink, fridge and workspace where you can prepare yourself light cold snacks if you wish - and of course tea and coffee making facilities are provided. In the morning you can have a continental breakfast or we will prepare you a hearty, locally produced, full English breakfast.
Outside, guests have the use of a private south facing terrace and can relax in our garden, which includes a Georgian walled kitchen garden, herbaceous borders, lawned areas and a wildlife pond.
*We now also have 2 double/twin rooms available in the main house*
Parking available. Cycle store.
We are less than 1/2 mile from Hadrian’s Wall and Chesters Roman Fort, next to the spectacular central section of the Wall, close to Housesteads and on the edge of the Northumberland National Park. The location is perfect for visiting the Hadrian’s Wall area and the historic town of Hexham and is less than an hour from the Northumberland coast. We are an ideal resting place for those completing the Hadrian’s Wall Trail, being just off the path and are also very close to the Route 72 Hadrian's Wall Coast to Coast Cycle Way.
All major facilities can be found in Hexham 6 miles away. There are local pubs serving home cooked meals 1 mile away. There is a Leisure club (open to the public) with gym, sauna and swimming pool 1 mile away.
Directions: Heading west along Hadrian’s Wall (B6318) take the 1st right just after the entrance to Chesters Roman Fort. Go up the narrow lane - we are at the top of the hill.
