There are 6 indoor stables available in the large barn for those who wish to ride the extensive network of bridletracks around Rutland. Bedding is supplied. More information is available from the TROT network.
Half mile from Oakham town with several eating places including a choice of traditional menus, Chinese, Italian, Indian, and Braunston village with 2 good pubs. The local beer brewed at the Grain Store Brewery next to Oakham Station is well known for the wonderful selection and tastes of its beers. There is a beer festival held there during the summer.
Rutland County Show held on the first Sunday in June is one of those very special old fashioned agricultural shows which provide entertainment for all the family from horses to goats, cattle to sheep.
Barnsdale Gardens well known as the home and gardens of Geoff Hamilton and BBC's Gareners World are 15 minutes drive away.
Rutland Water offers birdwatching, cycling, fishing, sailing, windsurfing, walking, the International Bird Fair in August.
Stamford town is only 20 minutes drive or by train. Well known for the filming of many period dramas, Burghley House, Burghley Horse September, Burghley Craft Fairs, Tolethorpe, Nr. Stamford is famous for the Shakespearean Plays put on in the open air theatre during the summer months.
Melton Mowbray - home of the pork pie - is only 20 minutes away by car or train from Oakham station.
