A thoroughly relaxing small hotel in Wheddon Cross, the highest village on Exmoor.

Exmoor House has spacious, comfortable ensuite bedrooms, a dining room with a view of Dunkery Beacon and a cosy guest sitting room (with log fires in winter).

We're smoke-free, TV-free and almost mobile-phone-free (most of them don't work up here!). The emphasis here is on excellent food and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.

Breakfasts and dinners are made using quality ingredients, and with local produce where possible. The dinner menu changes daily; we offer two choices at each course and will do our best to cater for particular dietary requirements - just let us know when you make your booking.

Everything is homemade, including our bread, preserves and ice cream.

Start the day with a delicious breakfast before going out exploring - there are many good walks that start from our door. Relax with an aperitif before a candlelit 3-course dinner in our characterful wood-panelled dining room. Enjoy a great night's sleep in one of our kingsize beds.

Exmoor House has an interesting history - it was built as a tailor's shop (which is now our dining room) with a reading room for the village (which is now our guest sitting room - and there are still plenty of books to read in there, as well as a selection of maps which you're welcome to borrow during your stay).

We're ideally placed for many local attractions, for example Dunster and its castle, Porlock and Tarr Steps. The Coleridge Way footpath passes very close to Wheddon Cross, making Exmoor House an excellent place to stay before tackling the last part of the walk.
