Poplar Farm

Poplar Farm is a 17th century Somerset long house and small holding of approx 25 acres where we rear animals for beef and also keep chickens, guinea-pigs, rabbits, ducks cats and 3 Jack Russell terriers, Jack, Millie, and Tigger.

The house is set in a half acre of gardens in a quiet rural setting surrounded by pasture land. 13 years ago we totally renovated the house, and the loft and barn are now part of the main house we have retained as many of the old features as we could, the oak and elm beams have exposed to show off their character.

It has been said that the long beams in the house of which there are 3 were once part of sailing ships masts. Bringing the barn and loft into the main house has enabled us to have 3 ensuite double/twin bedrooms, one of which can be a family room.

Two years ago we added a Chalet Style Wood Cabin (The Squirells), which sleeps 2, has a shower room, TV, microwave and small fridge. We also have a cosy self-catering Studio flat converted from a redundant feed barn (Swallows Nest), this sleeps 2 people. It has electric heating plus a gas fired wood burner.

We are conveniently placed for visiting places such as Cheddar Gorge, Wells Cathedral, Glastonbury Abby, The Roman Bathes at Bath and wonderful walking on the Somerset Levels and the Mendip Hills.

The Isle of Wedmore Golf club is highly recommended and is just 1 mile up the road, and there is freshwater and fly fishing within a short distance. Bristol international airport is just 20 minutes away.
