Backways Farmhouse bed and breakfast is a 17th Century characterful and comfortable cross-passage farmhouse with modern facilities (en-suites and central heating).

We are close to J26 (3 miles) & J27 (7 miles) of the M5 motorway in a rural setting just outside Wellington off the quiet A38 down our own quiet private lane. There are views to the Wellington monument at the front and over our courtyard to the rear (swallows in summer).

We have two doubles with modern en-suites and a twin room with a separate private bathroom. All rooms are reasonably spacious (see our website for photos) and on the first floor. There is an inglenook fireplace in the guest lounge where breakfast is also served; vegetarian breakfasts can be catered for.

There is ample private parking in our cobbled courtyard. We are a no smoking property. Our free range breakfast uses eggs from our own hard-working ex-battery chickens and bacon and sausages sourced locally in the Blackdowns.

Easy access to many gardens and National Trust properties - Knightshayes, Barrington Court, Montacute. The Blackdown and Quantock Hills, Exmoor and Somerset Levels are within easy reach.

The West Somerset steam trains are nearby and Cheddar Gorge, Clarks shopping village, Glastonbury, Haynes Car museum, the Fleet Air Arm museum are not far afield. Taunton is 15 minutes away and Exeter about 35 minutes by car. The north and south coasts and Dartmoor are all about 45 minutes away and are quite different experiences.
