Oak House Bed & Breakfast
Oak House is a beautiful traditional Suffolk farmhouse which has been restored and given a quirky twist by it's friendly owners. Oak House welcomes couples, families and single travellers and provides splendid breakfasts as well as evening meals if wanted. We use local food, including home grown vegetables and eggs from our chickens.
Come and feel pampered in our luxurious bedrooms, with cast iron bath, candles and Egyptian cotton bedding. Guests are welcome to explore the fascinating house and garden. The old medieval kitchen has been restored to make a cosy and welcoming private sitting room for guests. All rooms have freeview tv, free wi-fi and tea and coffee.
Oak House is well situated for visiting all of Suffolk's attractions from quiet villages, rural walks to stately homes and seaside resorts. The friendly owners are happy to recommend local pubs and things to do in the area. Bikes and maps can be borrowed and picnics provided. We can also suggest local wild swimming spots and lend wet suits for the more adventurous guest. Dogs and children are welcome at Oak House.
Oak House can be easily reached by road (A14, A140, A143) or is a 15 minutes taxi from Diss or Stowmarket mainline stations.
Oak House is in the pretty and quiet village of Gislingham which has a pub and well stocked village shop. The village has many walks and footpaths and interesting historic houses and a beautiful 13th century church. Check out the village website for local events such as pantomimes, plays, flower festivals, fete, book sale etc. There's always something going on in the area!
