Our house is situated in the heart of the medieval town - the oldest part of Bruges - near the St-Walburga church where Koen plays the organ. It takes only a 1 minute walk to get to the canals and 3 minutes walking from the Burg and the market square.
The house is rebuilt in 1832 but you can already find the house on the citymap drawn by Marcus Gerardus in 1562. Through the ages the house was renovated several times. The most recent renovation and restauration was done by us in 2000 - 2001
In the entrqnce with old marbered black and white churchfloor, a beatiful wooden staircase leads to the upper floor ( 2 flights of stairs) where you will be able to feel at home in the cosy, peaceful rooms.
The rooms were totally new installed in 2001 with all modern comfort, combined with the beautiful old characteristics of our old mansion, such as: old wooden (cheese-) floors, beamed ceilings, original doors. The rooms are tastefully decorated with beautiful furniture and art.
Belgium is quiet famous for its good food. You'll find a lot of candle - cool bistrots and restaurants in the town were you can eat the real local flemish specialties as :-stoofvlees (in beer-soaked meat) -waterzooi (with chicken or fish) - witloof met ham (....... ) - frietjes (french fries) - mosselen (mussels)....
And don't forget that Belgium boasts more than 350 types of beer. Each pub carries the basic beers served in it's own unique glass and some pubs offer you a selection of 300 types !
We'll be glad to offer you all the info you want during your stay here.
