Palace Lazzarini Battiala
18 century palace-villa with 6 rooms for 2-5 people. Very peaceful location, away from the main road. One hour drive to all the interesting places in Istria, and 15 min. drive to the nearest beach in Rabac.
We serve a rich breakfast with local specialities. The ' Lazzarini- Battiala ' palace in Sveti Martin, incorporated in the baroque country- side castle ( kaštel, castello ), the last Labin landlord, baron Lazzarini´s country- seat, was built in 1797. Sveti Martin ( Saint Martin ), a peaceful place, situated above the river Raša canyon ( valley ) is surrounded by a number of small peasant houses in a genuine nature. The palace is approached through a stone gate and hundred-year old chestnut alley. Outside the building there is the St. Martin’s parish church, built in 1907, and the 16th century Madona of Health little ruined church.
The palace was restored in 2002 by efforts of three families, Beluš;-Mileti-Jenkel. It offers accommodation in 6 comfort apartments, wine-cellar (konoba) and a typical istrian ognjisce. In the Konoba the hosts serve a rich homemade breakfast if desired and they offer istrian prosciutto and domestic cheese with a glass of good istrian wine such as malvazija or teran. Wine can be served in an 'istrian bukaleta' in a specific way as the 'Istrian supa'.
The guests of the palace are also welcome to a large, semi-circled terrace situated in the first floor. If You're a fan of hiking and mountaineering there are marked hiking paths from historic Plomin to Labin and from Labin to the highest village of Labinšina (Labin area) - Skita; from which
You have a beautiful vista of whole Kvarner, from islands of Cres and Lošinj all the way to Pula. On this walk through the Labin area you will be amazed by scents of wild medicinal herbs full of eteric oils that grow here in abundance: sage, thyme and wild thyme etc.
