'Domaine de la Carrère' offers accommodation in a quality homestay/guest house in a seventeenth century manor with swimming pool, at Arthez-de-Béarn in the Pyrénées Atlantiques. It is centred twixt la Cité d'Henri IV PAU (20 mins) which epitomises the best of French culture, dynamism, & beauty.....and glitzy Biarritz (40 mins)......the mountains of the Pyrenees and Spain (1 hr)...and just 10 mins from ORTHEZ.

Here between the mountains and the sea, Fritz Kisby and Mike Ridout have made their home in this historic residence. It has been lived in by nobles, merchants and traders and was built during the reign of Louis XIV le Grand or le Roi-Soleil - the Sun King.

Guests love its unique ambiance and refined decor with its abundance of antiques and original paintings. The house oozes taste and style. Bedrooms/suites are big. Fritz and Mike will make you welcome, but at the same time will respect your privacy.

There are just five en-suite bedrooms for guests in the whole of the property. Each en-suite bathroom contains power shower, double sink unit, toilet, hair dryer, dressing gowns and toiletries. Tea & coffee facilities, French TV., radio alarm, wifi are supplied as well. A quality Table d'hôtes (dinner), apéritif, starter, main course, cheese, sweet, wine & coffee, is available on request and dinners in the superb original oak-panelled dining room are serenely elegant affairs.

How do you get here? There are daily flights to the airports of Biarritz or Pau from London (Ryan Air & City Jet) and Bristol (Ryan Air). Or you could travel by car utilising the Ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo returning via Bilbao.
