Gite du Calme Bed & Breakfast

Luxury chambre d'hotes / B&B close to cognac. We offer two spacious double en-suite bedrooms plus one large en-suite family suite consisting of a large double room & adjoining twin room, perfect for 2 adults and 2 children. The rooms are decorated in a mixture of traditional French furniture and modern pieces.

All the bedrooms are bright and spacious with modern en-suite shower rooms. There is a private Salon/lounge with Satellite TV, DVD, PC and WiFi, plus many games for adults and children and a good selection of reading books and information leaflets on things to do in the area.

There is a swimming pool for guests with an AFNOR safety cover. We have arm bands for kids, and rubber rings plus a paddling pool for the younger children.

This is all set in a 2 acre garden with a childrens play area, bicycles for adults (no charge) and private parking. You can choose to have your breakfast outside in the garden or in the large kitchen diner area where there is also a fridge for guests to use and a microwave. I

f you require dinner we will make a home made meal on request for 15 Euros per head including wine. We are located on a hill that has magnificent views overlooking vineyards in the beautiful Cognac growing region. We are just a few minutes away from the Charente River where you can visit the local producers of Cognac and Pineau, buy delicious bread and cakes from the local Boulangerie / Patisserie.

Our the local village of Cherac has a Boucherie, Pharmacy, Boulangerie and Cafe bar for all your basic needs. There are 18 holes Golf courses in Cognac and Saintes and a 9 hole golf course in the next village. We are just over one hours drive from La Rochelle, Bordeaux and Poitier airports and 40 minutes drive from the Airport at Angouleme.
