English owned B & B in southern Burgundy
You will find Les Portails Bleus on the edge of Azé, a working village in the wine producing region of the Maconnais. Our three bedroomed B&B has been refurbished to create a welcoming and relaxing place for you to stay if you are discovering Burgundy or just stopping over on your way to somewhere else.
We are surrounded by vineyards, with the Beaujolais region nearby - this a great place to discover the wines, history, culture and scenery of the region. You can do this by either, foot, car, motorbike or cycling.
Beaune, Dijon and Lyon - all major cities in the area (approximately 1 hours drive to each) have their own unique atmospheres and should be high on the sightseeing list. Although wine is a major part of the area there are fantastic examples of Roman churches, Abbeys and Chateaux, which are an integral part of the history of where we live.
We offer a guest salon where you can watch TV or a DVD, listen to some music or play on the Wii. A private garden with a hot tub is a great place to relax and chill after a hectic day sightseeing. Evening meals are freshly prepared and are available for our guests. Breakfast and dinner is served at our large farmhouse style table in the dinning room.
Breakfast consists of pastries and bread from the local bakery, homemade preserves, tea, coffee or hot chocolate. This should set you up for the day ahead and if you feel up to one of our evening meals, these are available for only 25€ per person, for a three course meal including wine. Special dietary needs can be catered for and we offer a children’s menu as well.
So, if you are looking stay in a typical French style house, in the centre of a wine producing area, where the pace is as fast or as slow as you want, then give us a call and see what we can offer you.
