Le Moutier
Fifteen minutes from the Chateau de Chenonceau and just thirty minutes from Blois, Le Moutier at Mareuil sur Cher remains open throughout the year. In the peace and quiet of an extensive park and orchards along the banks of the River Cher you will be seduced by the charm of the surroundings and warm welcome of the owners.
Two double rooms (one on the ground floor, one on the first floor)) each with private bathroom are available in the independent guest house which adjoins the Touraine stone built family mansion where you have an other double room (on the first floor) and a family suite (on the second floor).
The suite has 2 bedrooms and a bathroom.
You can stroll in the large park, along the banks of the cher, or discover the vine covered slopes prior to tasting the wines of the Loire in the shade of a plane tree or according to the season in front of a log fire.
An evening dinner of regional dishes is available if required (asparagus in April, goat cheese, organic vegetables from our garden, eggs from our hens). This is an ideal base for visiting the Loire chateaux. Chambord is 35 minutes from here and Chenonceau 20 minutes. You also have the Chateau of Amboise, Chaumont and its garden festival.
Villandry and his famous vegetable garden. Cheverny, Loches, Montrésor .. The zoo of Beauval in Saint Aignan is a nice place to visit too(one of the most famous in Europe). You can practise canoeing on the river Cher.
On site you can have painting and French language courses given by your hosts.
