The Lot et Garonne has many medieval Bastide towns and villages to explore, Pujol, Villeneuve sur Lot, Villereal and Monflanquin, to name a few. Monflanquin is six kilometres from Bouyé, and has an arcaded market square, surrounded by medieval streets and houses. Monflanquin also boasts several recommendable restaurants, with varying menus and prices to suit most clients. Monflanquin is a perfect venue for many outside events, including the spectacular August Medieval Fete, and no exception is the weekly morning market, which continues throughout the year. Evening markets prove to be very popular too, with an opportunity to purchase regional produce from the stalls in the square, and dine al fresco.
Local outdoor activities are in abundance: golf courses, equestrian centres, tennis, fishing and trotting to name but a few. Nearby there is a lake offering bathing, boating, or just playing on the man-made beach. France would not be complete without a Chateaux - Biron and Bonaguil are just two! Just over the border, in the Dordogne, visit the town of Bergerac. Set on the river Lot, Bergerac boat trips and canoeing, are very recommendable ways to explore the Lot. Bergerac is also the town of our nearest airport, about a 40 minute drive away, served by many budget airlines. Bergerac also has good shopping facilities, for those memorable souvenirs or that special purchase! If that’s not your tipple, then try a visit to the nearby vineyards of Monbazillac and Perchamant, not to be missed.
Bouyé is located six kilometres from the Bastide town of Monflanquin. We enjoy peace and quiet, together with the occasional surrounding crops of Sunflowers. The few neighbours that we have are French, so don’t miss the opportunity to brush up on your language skills. The wild life here is very good, with visits from many species of birds. Early risers have the opportunity to view the red squirrels, dear, and occasional wild boar.
From Bouyé there are many short walks along the country lanes, just enough to build your appetite. Relax in the garden or by the pool, and just enjoy the tranquil surroundings.
We hope you come and stay with us soon.
