Locanda della Valle Nuova stilish organic country inn in Northern Le Marche
Our charming country house lies in a 185-acre organic farm in sight of Urbino (UNESCO's Heritage) nestling in a landscape of gentle, rolling hills, rich in wild flora and fauna.
Always keeping in mind the philosophy that 'one should tread lightly on the earth' we grow organically our own wheat, fruits and vegetables and raise our cattle, pigs and poultry with 100% natural feed; from our fresh organic produce we make our own bread and pasta, jams, wine and traditional home cooking. In autumn we also have truffles from our woods.
The home is fitted with solar collectors and the heating system is run using renewable energy.
Our first priority is the comfort of our guests: the smiling service and high standards of both food and accommodation will best suit persons seeking superior quality in an elegant and tranquil setting, the perfect location for exploring the delights of Central Italy and many famous Renaissance towns.
Le Marche has been described as 'Italy best kept secret' and you'll be able to visit hilltop-towns like Urbino, Urbania, Mondavio and San Leo, the amazing Frasassi Caves, gorgeous Furlo Gorge and the great landscapes that inspired many Renaissance painters such as Raphael and Piero della Francesca. During the Roman times the Via Flaminia crossed this part of Italy and a lot of ruins, statues and archaeological sites can be visited, probably the most amazing of these things being Pergola 'Glided Bronzes', 4 natural size bronze statues entirely covered by a golden layer. The Locanda is near Tuscany and Umbria too and, just a short drive away, you'll be able to visit Assisi, Gubbio, Perugia, Sansepolcro and Cittą di Castello.
Moreover the Locanda is the perfect starting point for walks and treks in the surrounding area: it stands just a few miles away from beautiful Riserva Naturale Gola del Furlo (Furlo Gorge) with its peculiar flora and fauna (including wolves and some pairs of golden eagles), and from Parco del Sasso Simone and Simoncello with its distinctive geological formations. The beaches and rocky coastlines of Parco del Monte San Bartolo and Conero represent an interesting option compared to the typical Adriatic sandy beaches.
During the summer months several cultural events are held in the area such as Rossini Opera Festival, Urbino Antique Music Festival, Macerata Opera.
Near the Locanda you can find three towns that belong to the Associazione Italiana Cittą della Ceramica: Urbania, Pesaro and Gubbio. In the three of them you can admire ancient ceramics or buy works reproducing old shapes and decorations or pieces of modern design produced with traditional techniques. In Urbania you may attend summer courses on ceramics.
In Nearby Fratterosa there's a beautiful pottery museum.
Le Marche is getting very known for its beautiful gastronomy and wines. In October we can arrange truffle hunts with our neighbour and his dog.
Guests may swim in our swimming pool, enjoying sweeping views of the landscape.
We have stables available for those who bring their own horses and our horses are at our guests' disposal for lessons and walks in the countryside.
We organize basket weaving courses for groups of 4-6 people during weekends. Please e-mail us for further information.
We offer accommodation in our six stylish en-suite double bedrooms and one self-catering apartment for two.
All our rooms have an en-suite bathroom with shower, little sitting area, ceiling fan, mosquito nets, telephone, colour TV, safe-box and tea and coffee facilities.
We speak very good English and Spanish and some French and German.
No smoking anywhere in the house.
Sorry no children under 12.
