La Finestrella di Montalto Locanda
La Finestrella di Montalto, rustic restaurant and Inn -BB- is situated in one of the ancient alleyways of this mediaeval village, perched high on a mount. The building was originally a convent.
Montalto Ligure is known as Paese Romantico because, according to legend, several newly-married couples found refuge on this mount, thus avoiding the local count's law of -Jus Primae Noctis- his right to the first night with the bride!
The village council has recently renovated a charming slate-floor piazza where wedding ceremonies are held and -La Loggia degli Sposi- the newly-wed's lodge. Montalto has become Italy's answer to Gretna Green!
With the Ligurian Alps lending a dramatic backdrop, our guests can enjoy breathtaking views of the Argentina valley below. The silver-leafed olive trees growing on the mountain sides leading down to the fast-flowing river that eventually winds its way to the sea. In the Summer the locals prefer to take a refreshing dip in the river rather than face the crowds on a hot beach!
In the Autumn of 2011, following the success of our restaurant, we transformed the third floor of the building into three lovely, comfortable rooms, completely new but with an old fashioned touch.
The first room has twin beds that can be made up as a double and the possibility of a third bed. The second room has an extra-wide single bed and the third room has a double bed.
Each room has central heating en-suite bathroom with washbasin, toilet, bidet, shower and heated towel rail flat screen satellite HD TV free wi-fi connection and a daily room cleaning service.
Breakfast on request.
