Walking the GR7
The GR7 in the Alpujarra valley and the Sierra Nevada, being part of the E4 grande randonee, is a walking track along mule paths from Almería to Granada. Orchards and water streams, white villages in wild nature. Laróles and Yégen via the GR7 are 'one day' walking destinations. In Yégen you may stay overnight and continue your walking the following days to Bérchules and Trevélez. Transport of your luggage can be arranged.

Horseback riding
Horse trekking activities are throughout the year. There are also seven or ten days horse riding itineraries leading you around the Alpujarras valley and the mountain range of the Sierra Nevada. For a really physical thrill there are wonderful opportunities for bicycling or biking. Please bring your own bikes.

Cross country skiing
Only an half hour car drive up the mountain is the ski resort Puerto de la Ragua with ski rental facilities. Usually there is enough snow from the month of November until March for excellent skiing or cross country skiing.

Excursion to the city of Granada; The provincial capital city of Granada with its Alhambra, divided by the river Darro which runs underground in the city centre, has been declared a national monument. The city was founded by the Visigotes in the third century BC whose domination ended in 711. It was the only surviving bastion of Islam in Spain until the last sultan of Granada had to relinquish the city to Ferdinand and Isabella at the treaty of Santa Fé in 1492.

In the same way that the Alhambra palace was built during the Nasrid dynasty, a lively cultural environment was able to develop in the densely populated and wealthy city. Excursion to the city of Almería; The capital of the province of Almería, is a former Roman port, dominated by its Moorish castle, the Alcazaba.
