Casa Lascorz
The House
Dating back to 1801, the property was vacated in the late 1960s and remained empty until 2016 when it was purchased by your hosts, Ben and Corinna.
The house has been lovingly brought back to life to provide both a welcoming rural guest house and a family home. The renovation has been a labour of love and we have taken care to preserve the traditional Aragónese architecture, features and furniture. Original pieces have been incorporated into the décor, providing a unique historical narrative of the building’s past.
Casa Lascorz stands proud once again: balconies brimming with flowers; sunny terraces and cosy arches providing tranquil places to sit and read; thick stone walls emitting heat on a balmy evening; views to fill the soul with joy and if you stop and listen for a while….silence.
Our rooms
All our rooms are bright and spacious, have modern en-suite bathrooms and include toiletries, towels, a television and hair-dryer. Wi-fi is available free of charge throughout the house.
La Iglesia - double room with en-suite bathroom overlooking the terrace with views of both the church of Santa Barbara and the countryside stretching towards the historic town of Abizanda. The room is accessed by a beautiful carved wooden door. Inside, the room retains the original wooden beams, traditional-style patterned floor tiles and incorporates other original materials from the house. The spacious en-suite bathroom includes a modern rainfall shower, toilet and hand basin along with wall-mounted radiator.
Flor-de-lis - double room with balcony, en-suite bathroom and walk-in wardrobe. The room retains its original antique floor tiles and carved wooden double doors and incorporates beautiful traditional furniture and cast iron radiators. The en-suite bathroom includes spacious walk-in shower, toilet, hand basin and heated towel rail.
Guests are also welcome to use communal areas including our private outdoor terrace, garden, breakfast/dining room with traditional Aragónese fireplace and lounge area, complete with comfortable chairs, library of books and log burner (for those romantic winter breaks).
A generous continental breakfast is served in the 'cocina vieja' each morning and packed lunches or evening meals can also be ordered in advance. We are more than happy to cater for special dietary requirements including preparation of vegetarian, vegan and gluten/lactose free menus.
Neighbourhood
Spectacular scenery, unique geography and geology, an abundance of flora and fauna and proud local traditions, provides something for everyone, whether you’re an avid walker, bird-watcher, photographer, foodie or extreme adrenalin junkie. Easy access to the National Parks of Ordesa, Sierra de Guara and Posets-Maladeta make this a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Popular activities include: walking, cycling (mountain bike and road cycling), climbing, rafting, canoeing, skiing, canyoning and bird/wildlife watching.
Those looking for more cultural activities will not be disappointed by historic towns such as Aínsa, Alquezar, Graus and Jaca or monasteries such as St Victorian and San Juan de la Pena. The nearby town of Aínsa (20 minutes by car) holds ‘La Morisma’ in September every even year, when the battle between the Moors and Christians is re-enacted. The Castilllo de Aínsa International Music Festival is held in July every year along with other horticultural and farming fairs in February and September. Other events include Punchacubas (local artisan wine tasting) in December, Las Nabatas (making and sailing traditional rafts in the river Cinca) in May along with a host of other fiestas, bonfires and cultural events in the local villages throughout the year.
The nearby Somontano wine region and wealth of local artisan food producers will satisfy the keenest foodies. Most of the wineries are located close to the town of Barbastro (1/2 hour by car) and wine tasting tours are offered by many of the wineries throughout the year.
