Welcome to Keel Lodge Guesthouse, an original fishing and hunting lodge that dates back to the 1740s. We are located in Aghinish on the shores of Lough Mask and only a couple miles from Ballinrobe. On your doorstep is Lough Mask, rated as one of world's top fishing lakes for wild Brown Trout, also you have an array of great activities to choose from including walking, golfing, horse riding, or going to the Ballinrobe races.

It is a tranquil spot that is in a Special Area of Conservation (SAC). If you are a lover of nature and wildlife there is a great diversity of habitats that await you. If you enjoy tasty home cooked food we offer menus that compliments the character of the house, using fresh local produce including fish, game, and home-grown seasonal vegetables. We pride ourselves in offering a warm welcome. This beautifully restored Guesthouse it's a Georgian Farmhouse and converted barn artisan 2 storey cottage. We offer cheap rates for accommodation, perfect for couples families or individual travellers. We also offer an alternative cooking holiday at Keel Lodge, where in-house chef offers custom cooking workshop and cooking demos where you sit down and relax and enjoy the food you have cooked.

Aghinish meaning Island of horses in Irish is a peninsula and one can directly access the lake. Fishermen and women will love to be in the heart of Lough Mask when staying at Keel Lodge. Lough Mask is rated one of the World’s top fishing destinations and the World Fly Fishing Championships are held here every year. This area has been christened the Lake District of Ireland, you also have Lough Carra on your door step.

Nearby you also have Lough Corrib if you go South or the famous River Moy and Lough Conn if you go further North for Salmon fishing. Fishing trips for Wild Brown Trout, Atlantic Salmon, Seatrout, Pike, Perch, Cod, Mackeral can all be organized for whatever type of fishing takes your fancy day or night. As your hosts we will be happy to organise boats and ghillies.

Lough Mask Drive is a loop drive that offers an exquisite scenic route without the tour buses. While driving you pass along the shores of Lough Mask through unspoilt mountain passages and beautiful villages of Tourmakeady, Srah, Cushlough to name a few. This drive can originate from Keel Lodge and takes about an hour.

Cong is a short 20 mins drive from Ballinrobe and is famous for The Quiet Man Cottage, where they filmed the Quiet Man film in 1951 featuring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara. Cong Abbey and Ashford Castle offer an abundance of history.

We are close to Knock, Galway, Shannon, Dublin Airports, and connect at all train stations from Dublin to Westport train.
