Rowantree Cottage was built about 1850 to house workers for Luss Estates. It has recently been sympathetically enlarged and upgraded with the expected modern facilities required today and still retains its cottage character.
Rowantree Cottage is a warm, relaxing and comfortable bed and breakfast located in the centre of the village of Arrochar close to shops, a variety of good restuarants and a pub.
We have two rooms, a double and a twin bedded room. Both have en-suite toilet and shower rooms and stunning uninterrupted views across Loch Long to the 'Arrochar Alps' beyond.
There is a comfortable lounge with a colour TV, VCR and DVD systems for guests.
Private off road parking on the premises is available to guests.
The cottage is an ideal base to explore The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, the Cowal Peninsula, and local towns and villages such as Helensburgh, Tarbet and Ardlui. Helensburgh is home to Hill House, designed by Rene MacIntosh and looked after by the National Trust for Scotland. John Logie Baird, the inventor of television was born here.
If you wish to travel further afield then take a trip to Inverary and visit the town jail to see what it was like for prisoners in centuries past and/or visit Inverary castle the home of the Dukes of Argyll,
Balloch , at the southern end of Loch Lomond, plays host to the headquarters of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park,
Dunoon on the firth of Clyde is worth a day out as is Oban the jewel in the west and gateway to the Islands. From here you can take a ferry to Mull and visit Balimory (Tobermory) or Iona, take a ferry to the outer islands.
Hill walking, sailing, mountain biking and diving are all activities that can be enjoyed in Arrochar.
Arrochar is 45 minutes by road from Glasgow Airport and 1.6 miles from Loch Lomond. The Arrochar and Tarbet railway station is on the beautiful West Highland railway line from Glasgow to Oban and Glasgow to Fort William. The station is about a mile from the cottage
