Helensburgh is a super seaside town with plenty of restaurants and shops. There are many buildings of architectural interest including Charles Rennie Macintosh’s Hill House (National Trust) and the world’s last sea going paddle steamer ‘The Waverley’ calls in twice a week during the summer for sea-loch excursions.
This location is an ideal centre for exploring West and Central Scotland. Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park, Stirling, the Trossachs (‘Braveheart’ Country) and Inveraray are all within easy reach. There is also easy access to sea or loch fishing, sailing, hill walking, mountain-biking and golfing (the Loch Lomond Golf Course is just 25 minutes away).
Helensburgh has two train stations. Central Station connects directly to Glasgow and Edinburgh every thirty minutes, while Helensburgh Upper gives access to the panoramic scenery of the West Highland Line with daily return journeys to Oban, Fort William and Mallaig, and of course the famous Glennfinnan Viaduct.
Glasgow Airport (GLA) is around 35 minutes by car.
Glasgow Prestwick is 1.5 hours.
